Lucy Sherborne Sanofi

Originally trained as a medical representative in respiratory and cardiovascular. However, after taking time out, I took a position working for a Clinical Research Facility in my Local NHS trust, coordinating a NIHR funded Clinical Trial in Cellulitis. In this role, I assisted the CI and research nurses in setting up over 15 sites across the UK, organising appointments, patients recruitment tools and collating the data required for a successful study. I also assisted with the CRF with other clinical studies gaining vast experience in setting up, running and coordinating trials. In 2016 I moved into a CRA role within a CRO and was contracted to a single sponsor.  After 5 years of gaining a variety of experience, I became a Local Study Manager managing study UK site set up including budgets and recruitment alongside submitting the studies to the MHRA and Ethics committees.  In 2021 I accepted a role with Sanofi and continued as a Local study Manger and in 2022 I became a Site Engagement Lead for South of the UK and Wales.

My role as Site Engagement Lead is to build good working relationships with site R & D teams as their main point of contact, as well as the CRNs to support successful and quick set up of Clinical trials in the UK. The role also entails working closely with site teams and the clinical studies unit to ensure open and transparent conversations between us all regarding the progress of the studies from start to finish and finding new innovative research teams to partner with. In my capacity of site engagement lead, I also work with the medical and management teams within the UK Clinical Studies Unit to bring clinical studies to the UK.
