Carly Elizabeth McDonald
Research Manager, Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland ICB
Carly McDonald brings over 10 years of experience in research, having begun her career as a research delivery nurse in an acute hospital setting. Since 2022, she has served as the Research Manager for the Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland Integrated Care Board (ICB), where she plays a pivotal role in advancing research development across the system.
Carly is at the forefront of shaping and implementing research processes, expanding research capacity in primary care, and securing external funding for strategic projects. She led the development of the first-ever LLR ICS Research Strategy, a bold five-year vision designed to drive transformative improvements in health and care through research. Over the past year, she has continued to embed this strategy, supporting delivery through the ICS Research Strategy Group and the Research Operational Working Group, and developing the ICS Research Strategy Implementation Plan.
