Caroline Tiza

Community Engagement Manager, University Hospital Southampton NHS FT

Caroline Tiza leads on community engagement activities for research under the Southampton Centre for Research Engagement and Impact (SCREI) in the Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) team, at University Hospital Southampton NHS FT. Her main goal is to build relationships and increase diverse involvement in health research.
Caroline focuses on building lasting relationships and fostering trust with our diverse local communities, the Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprises (VCFSEs), research organisations and partners. This foundation supports equitable, inclusive, and impactful research.
With nearly three decades of experience, Caroline is a dedicated advocate and community development worker working with marginalised, disadvantaged and under-served communities. Caroline uses participatory learning and action approaches which are based on the principles of co-production, culturally appropriate and meaningful inclusion, and sustainability.
Caroline believes that when everyone is involved, it leads to high quality research that is relevant and responsive to community needs with generalisable outcomes that benefits all.
