Jenny Gilchrist

Research Nurse – Children & Young People (CYP), Mersey Care NHS FT

I’m a Registered Children’s Nurse with a BSc in Public Health and an MSc in International Public Health. After retraining during the COVID-19 pandemic, I now combine clinical practice with research to improve mental health outcomes for children and young people. At Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust, I lead and support innovative studies, focusing on co-designed digital tools such as apps and games that reflect young people’s lived experiences. My background spans neurodevelopment, sexual health, and safeguarding, with a strong commitment to trauma-informed care and health equity. I also champion inclusive research through developing PPIE groups that empower young people to shape the support they receive. Passionate about evidence-based practice and innovation, I advocate for justice, equity, and fairness, especially for those whose voices are often unheard.
