Neeta Patel
Associate Director, Research Engagement, Barts Health NHS Trust
With a career spanning broadcasting, community development and NHS research management, Neeta brings a wide range of skills and experience to her role as Associate Director, Research Engagement, working to build stronger public partnerships in the development, delivery and dissemination of research and encourage greater levels of engagement, participation and involvement in research amongst patients and local residents. The team provides advice and guidance to researchers across Barts Health hospitals and Queen Mary, University of London Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry to embed high-quality inclusive public involvement in health and care research and has established a number of core programmes: Patient Research Champions (volunteers’ scheme), NIHR Patient Research Experience Survey, PPIE/P Practitioners Network, International Clinical Trials Day to support researchers in their ongoing engagement of our patient and local communities.
Neeta additionally acts in an advisory capacity for several regional and national bodies, including London Borough for Newham (Centre for Health and Care Equity), North-east London ICS (Research Engagement Network), and NIHR (PRES Advisory Group).
