Paul Roy

Associate Director for Research, NHS Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire ICB

Paul is Associate Director for Research, NHS Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire ICB. Since 2010, I have been dedicated to supporting and expanding health and care research within the community. Working across the boundaries of academia and health, spanning geographical and organisational divides and bridging NHS and Local Authority remits, I believe in the power of collaborations and the ability of applied research to improve the lives of those who need it most.
Currently, I have the privilege of supporting community and population-level health and care research in BNSSG, a highly research-active health system. I lead a research strategy with ambitious plans to embed research into business as usual across our Integrated Care System (ICS). This includes increasing research activity among under-represented and disadvantaged communities, ensuring research leads to meaningful improvements in health and care provision, and harnessing research’s potential to enhance the work of our ICS.
