Philip Evans
National Associate Director of Health & Care Research, NIHR Research Delivery Network
Professor Phil Evans is the National Associate Director of Health and Care in the NIHR Research Delivery Network. He is also an academic GP, having been 31 years as a GP partner in St Leonard’s Practice, Exeter. He is Professor of Primary Care Research at the University of Exeter. During the pandemic, he was Deputy Chair of the NIHR Urgent Public Health (UPH) Group and led the NIHR CRN engagement with primary care COVID-19 studies (PRINCIPLE and PANORAMIC). He has 30 years’ of experience conducting primary care research and leading research networks, both locally and nationally. More recently, he has co-led the NIHR CRN Primary Care Research Programme. His research interests include early diagnosis of diabetes and relational continuity in general practice. He has oversight of several settings and specialties, including ageing, general practice, mental health, oral and dental, primary care, children, public health and the community setting and is available for advice on the design and delivery of trials and other studies in primary care
