Kimberly Byrne

Research Governance Manager, University of Nottingham

Kimberly Byrne is a Research Governance Manager with 12 years’ experience in Research Governance.

In her current role at the University of Nottingham, she oversees the University’s non-regulated research portfolio, supporting academic colleagues to deliver high-quality research in line with the UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care Research and Principles of ICH-GCP. Kim has experience working with academic, NHS and commercial partners, and building strong, collaborative relationships that support efficient research set-up and delivery. A key part of her role involves providing guidance and support to students and researchers undertaking research within the NHS, with a particular focus on training and practical support. Her work aims to ensure research is delivered to the University’s high standards while also creating a positive and supportive experience for researchers. Kim will share insights from her experience of developing a collaborative Academic–NHS approach to Research Governance, using real-world examples to demonstrate the benefits of this model and outlining the process involved in establishing it.
