With over 20 years of qualifying as a nurse, Maines’s extensive experience across primary and acute care settings nationally within the NHS and internationally,  in diverse healthcare systems, spans a wide range of specialties. Her hands on experience in patient care laid a strong foundation for her transition in the research field. Her involvement in health research for over 10 years started in research delivery, progressively advancing to leadership roles. Over these years, She has successfully managed complex research projects, collaborated with multidisciplinary teams, and overseen the delivery of high-quality clinical trials and studies.

As Deputy Head of Research and Innovation at Medway NHS Foundation Trust, she now leads strategic planning, operational management, and the implementation of innovative research programs aimed at improving patient outcomes. In addition to her leadership responsibilities, she is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Public Health, focusing on advancing her understanding of population health and policy. Her commitment to continuous learning, combined with a deep passion for advancing healthcare research, positions her to contribute effectively to both clinical practice and the research landscape.
